NEW YORK CITY IS SINGING IN THE RAIN AND SO AM I......

Hello Friends!

RAIN!

I want to talk to you about my next serie of pictures that is all about RAIN!

Not very popular:
Soooooo wet!!! (I know that was easy!!),
Dreary,
Gloomy,
Most of the time cold,
Sometimes depressing.
Well not quite joyful............. for most, but for me it is and I hope to translate that to you through my photography.

Before I show some pictures I want to explain about my day yesterday:

During my lunch break I decided to go West to Central Park for a change.
It was about to rain I could tell. And sure enough soon after my arrival in what seemed to be an abandoned park. (A delight to me in this so busy city).
I got great "non rainy shots" I'll show you in this post. And I also got some great "rainy ones" I'll show you later.

I felt really good......................

Once my money maker day was over I needed to go to the Garment District.
I got off on 40th street. Once outside I looked South at the sky:
It was so dark and menacing. No doubts it wasn't going to rain but it was going to pour.

I decided to go towards Times Square.
All I had in mind was "The Red Steps" all for me................ and yes I got them all for me for a moment and sooooo much more.

So before reaching my goal I made it in the middle of Times Square when the first drops started to fall with abundance.

First it was panic among the tourists: screams, running, and here I was under my umbrella with my IPhone the document all of it.
What a delight!!! I Went around witnessing the rainy scenes unfolding before my eyes. Got wet to my knees but it didn't matter.

I felt like a child Christmas morning. ( a wet child!!!!!)

I can't wait to show you ............................................ but not today..............................

MY PHOTO ALBUM

Hello friends!!!

It was a very long time coming................ I finally ordered a photo album!!!!  A photo album with the photographs I put all my soul in it.
I'm super exited for so many reasons.
So let me try to put them in order............ you know I like order!!!!!!!
  1. I want to own a Coffee Table Album with my own work and YES it will be on MY COFFEE TABLE!!!!!!!!                                                                                                                                     ZE piece of conversation... ( let me tell you all who come in my kingdom know about my passion for mobile photography, they suffered from it one day or an other I'll come back to that an other day)
  2. I want to see what it looks like on paper....... the truth. I have had some pictures printed but the album will be more professional, slicker.
  3. I want a different platform for showing
These are a the main reasons..............

Like I said I wanted to have an album for a long time and now I can't wait for it to arrive.

The other situation I encounter was which company to choose from???? There are so many, with many different styles, covers and the list goes on.... I looked around because I'm a smart shopper.......

But at the end of the day I do believe in what people recommend so I went with Keepsy. They were the ones I heard the best feedback from and by looking at their website and tutorial, I was sold........ (now let me clear something here: I not affiliated to them, I don't know them) but I certainly will give you my feedback on the final product................. that's what friends do...............

After that was: which pictures do I put in it?! I have so many to choose from.
Because I'm a New York  mobile photographer I have chosen .............. yes you guessed it NYC!!!!
To be specific The Street Of New York City. (I'll post some I've chosen for the album).
And I know what is going to be the next one and the next one and the next one....... a bit exited I know!!!

FROM HERE TO THERE IN THE CITY

Hello Friends!

Yep! you get it! I wanted to talk to you about the serie i am presenting currently on Instagram.
Of course I'll show some published pictures and some not.

So the whole idea of this serie is to show a view, a point of view. my point of view.

Even if you may feel congested and confined in this city, there are infinity shots to be made.
I see them everyday: I always look past the point, I always look below, i always look up, I always look straight forward ( and if there is someone in front of me, local or tourist I simply push them out of the way!!!!.............. No!!!!,....... Tempting........ but no!!!!!)

I have a fascination with repetition, building, architecture, some beautiful people in between, so pretty much a lot of things............... that's what this serie is all about...........

You know as I talked about the BAM at the beginning and the one at the end of the serie? Well I just shoot the BAM for the last shot. It's in the can!!!!!!! Unless something crosses my way between now and then................. you never know. I'll tell you one key work: MOOD.....................

WHAT I SEE.....................

Hello friends,

As you know already I am pretty organized when I post my photographs.
It's very essential for me to have a clear path. It helps me focus and be able have a show.
I think I just touch something very essential here: a SHOW!!!!! That's it! a SHOW!!!!

I'm an artist in the first place, but an artist with an understanding of presentation. It's super important how to showcase a presentation, to present a show, to show a presentation............. it's all about the visual.
I mentioned in on of my other posts that my series are like a fashion show:
BAM! you start with something that is going to be memorable and that is going to give the tone to the rest and
BAM! you finish with something that is going to keep you on wanting more.

So all this writing to explain that this is what happens when I post....................NOT when I shoot.
Because when I shoot or as I like to call it "Photowalk myself" or "Photobike myself"(just like the picture above!!! yep that's me with Chouette my bicyclette!!!!)  it's all about what I see at the moment.

Of course I said it before My main focus is the current serie. But I'm always building a photo data. There are a lot of topics I never post. That's what I call it 'collect' or 'document'.
Street art is one of them, time laps is one of them (I take picture of the same thing, regardless of what it is at different time, some I've been taking for a few years).
That's one of the reasons I am a mobile photographer. My devise is always handy and always ready.

For example, I started this new serie called "FROM HERE TO THERE IN THE CITY" so I'm focused on that, but yesterday it was raining so hard that I couldn't help myself but take any pictures of anything rainy. It was so beautiful, such a great topic, such an amazing atmosphere and on top of that I have to finish a serie I started "NEW YORK CITY IS SINGING IN THE RAIN".
I took about 200 photos, that's just an estimation. sometimes more a day sometimes less.

One thing for sure my friends is that being a photographer is I see things I never saw before.........

SOME THOUGHTS I WANT TO SHARE

Hello Friends.

So the BIG idea beind this post today is to share my thoughts about this current Serie I'm showing on Instagam "YOU...ME ..US  ALONE ... A SPECIAL MOMENT IN THE CITY".
The picture below triggered what I'm about to expose to you:

But first let me paint you the picture of my day: Horrible day at the money maker place. Period. Can't go to the gym as I had a scary procedure done to back yesterday (no worries I'm fine). So basically no outlet of getting some steam out! Bummer!!!!

So I decided to go home and cook.
Want to know what? Even if you don't want to know I'll tell you anyways: quiches with sauteed mushrooms and shallots, fresh spinach and garlic chicken, served with a light salad and accompanied with a Delicious San Giovese wine.

So after the money maker place I decided to go to the Fresh Market at Union square to get the fresh products I needed.

But of course Union Square is sooooo much more than that, for the ones who don't know: it's the heaven for street photography. Everything happens there. Lots and lots of very interesting carachters. I have taken many many photographs there and so have many many Igers done the same.

So besides the well needed break after the money maker and the fresh market, I thought I might spot a few mobile photographers as it happens often. No!!!! but I still stubbled upon 2 people I knew.

Of course I had to go around the park and shoot a few things here and there.
Got a couple great shots and one of them is HER: I 'll call her THE PRETTY PAINTER.

Let me set the scene you don't see in the photograph: she was sitting by the fountain painting some very green checker patterns on a scrapbook. There were a bunch of people sitting all around the fountain, noise, traffic noise, people talking, laughing, passing by, siren at one point, buses, cars, taxis on 14th street...... very urban but nothing seemed to disturbed her. She was alone, not lonely, ALONE. So focused on what she was doing.
I quickly took a couple shots and then I stood there for a while observing her. NOTHING! NOTHING disturbed her. She was in her own world.
And this made me think and mostly reflect: this is what this all Serie of pictures is all about: finding this special moment anywhere you need it. It reminded me of ME. I often do that, I always need that. MY MOMENT. It can be anywhere and for any lenght of time, short and less short. THAT moment for me to escape in my thoughts, to regroup, to recharge my inner. SOOOOO essential, so vital.

Deep right?

This made me think: what the photographer takes pictures of, certainly the photographer is taking pictures of himself ...................................................................................................................

Now a few photographs, published and unpublished
