I'M ALL ABOUT SERIES...........

Hello friends!

For this post I have chosen to talked to you about the series I'm posting in Instagram.
If you've been following me for quite some time you know that I always post my photography in series.
Always a particular subject, a particular topic.
Sounds pretty organised, right?! Well 3 things:
  1. Don't get fooled by that!!!
  2. "Organized" sounds horrible and soooooo non artistic!!!!
  3.  I got to explain this to you.......
Let's start when it all came to life:
I remember my first serie (Oh yes! I must explain the 'SERIE' spelling while I'm at it: I can't help myself but to write it in French!!!! Ho la!la!....... that's it!!!)

So the 1st serie I posted was about YELLOW, everything yellow, just yellow...........
And then I carried on with blue.......... red.......... green.............. and more.
But what is essential about the rainbow and what came afterwards is that I never stuck to a particular style.
As I became free with my photography, I searched myself as a photographer.
I knew this was a  flourishing passion, and all that mattered to me (and still does) is to become better and  to discover the photographer.

Basically once a subject is chosen I am able to shot in many different styles: street, cityscape, art, architecture, B&W, color etc...... I'm able to touch many techniques and try different things. Therefor get better. (you'll be the judge of that!)

Now! How do I choose which serie?
Usually It all happens with ONE shot. THE shot that inspires me....... And the creative flow does the rest.
I'm not seeking desperately the next photo, but I do believe that knowing the direction channels the creativity. It always seems that Goddess Creativity puts it on a tray for me to see, the right time, the right place, the right light....

Usually once I have chosen the Serie I already have a few shots in the box (2,3, 4 or more). Many don't make the cut, as I am blessed by Goddess Creativity that feeds me with what I need.

Then I decide on what I think is a clever title. And I'm ready to rock and roll for my pleasure and yours I hope. Important thing here: I wrote 'my pleasure' because I think self satisfaction is super important to an artist. Being mega critical about my work pushes me to be better.

So I hear you ask: what's the next Serie? Well I don't know yet. I have a couple of ideas, a few shots in the box. Certainly very undecided at the time.
But I have an advice: stay tuned you'll find out soon....... ;-)

Now let me show you some mobile photography: some from the current Serie, some not, some that might....

THE NEW SERIES

I wanted to take some time to explain and develop the new Serie I'm currently posting on Instagram:

YOU.......ME......US......ALONE........A SPECIAL MOMENT IN THE CITY.

"It's about that moment of loneliness and quiet we seek and find in this non-stop mega city. For a minute or just a bit more....... Just never enough".

I photograph many many many different subjects: architecture, cityscapes, landscapes, street photography, pigeons (yes!!!!! pigeons!!!!!), street art and the list goes on..... Many I post and many I don't.

For this street photography series I have chosen, it's about catching the people in the moment of solitude and reflection, that moment that is really important for their balance. That well needed moment in the chaos of New York City and their own too busy lives. Nothing in that timely space will disturb them. They are gone..... Far gone....in their own world,. in their own bubble.

I see them often, they remind me of me. After living in New York City for many years now, I need that time when I need to escape. It can't wait...........

THE INTERVIEW

Hello friends,

So today I have something really cool to talk about!!!!
What is it? Well let me explain what it is and how it all came  about:

I was interviewed for a french documentary about my artistry with mobile photography. Pretty cool no?!

So now let me tell you the whole story. I'll start with the beginning this time:

An instagramer Chloe @clouch who has been following for quite some time asked me if she could interview me for a pitole she was doing when she'd be in NYC. She is an artist herself, a comedien, actress, singer and TV web host in my home land France.
The whole idea of the pilot is that: "What would my life be if I were to be a photographer, a comedien, a singer  etc in New York? "
She has been in NYC for a couple of weeks already interviewing actors, musicians, singers, braodway stars and more and me.  You can see some of her work on youtube under "Premier Reflex".
It was a great experience. She is such an awesome, natural, genuine beautiful person. So there was no stage fright for me.
I met her for the first time last Wednesday, she came and took some photos during a presentation I did at the last NYC instameet. (I got to talk about that experience soon).
I choose a spot I looooove for the shoot. It was in Williamsburg BK by the East River looking towards Manhattan. I love to go there and watch the sunset over the city. Gorgeous.

If someone would have told me 9 months ago (no I'm not pregnant!!!) that any one would have want to document me about my mobile photography I would have probably think they were crazy. At this time I think they are a bit less crazy!!!!!!
The whole experience I have to say is super cool. It is a validation for me and certainly a great feeling.

The other very extraordinary thing about instagram is about all the awesome people I've met and whom I share the same passion for photography. So if some of you are reading this I'm glad I met you and for you the other ones: can't wait until I meet you.

My friends good night.

MY THIRD POST

Thank you so much first to my 2 first followers.  It's well appreciated.

I will not disappoint you and by all means feel free to let me know if there is anything you want me to tackle. It will be great to have this blog more interactive.

This is just my 3rd post. So today I have a great topic: WHEN DID I BECAME A MOBILE PHOTOGRAPHER?
Not too long ago. The exact date I won't be able to tell you, but I could guestimate it around 4 years ago when I got my first I-phone.

HOW DID IT ALL STARTED? Very easely, just by pooling my I-phone and snaping pictures when i needed to,it was always ready and the pictures came out pretty good surprising! I always had a camera in my manbag (oh yes this is New York, most of the dudes have manbags, the accessory of choice!!!! and I'm not talking backpack!!!! no!no!no!).
I started to collect pictures for myself and create galleries in my computerr.
The most popular kind of shots at the bigining were of  the subway and in the streets. Sometimes people. AAHH! the people of New York!
And then I kind of let go my digital camera. I ever did any editing, at the time I was not concerned to share the shots with noone.

You know when you go on vacation you always bring you camera, well in 02/2010 I was in Hong Kong vacatoning, i was on the sky car that took us to see the Big Buddha. This was  really when it all started. My camera broke, so my best alterntive was my i-phone. Even when my camera was fixed i used my phone always. And I still do.

One day i stubbled upon Instagram (12/03).I was super exited: finaly a platform to share my photography. That's all I wanted: sharing what I was seeing.  And the rest is history in the making of me......

This has really changed my life. Some might call it adiction (and understand why!!!!). I call it passion. I have welcomed  the change...........

Tomorrow I have something special to tell you.....
I can't wait.....

MY SECOND POST

Hello and welcome to my second post!!!! Don't worry I'll become more creative with my title as I go along..............

What I want to talk about tonight is pretty much how my mobile photographer day went.
Not the money maker day!!!! One thing you should know now is that I don't mix my work with my passion. And I don't talk about it.

Since my money maker takes at least 8 hours or more a day!!!! That's too much to my opinion!!!!! Then I have 1 hour at lunch time.
I often skip food!!! What do I choose?...... Photowalking myself in the work hood and starve to death, or eat, get fat and bore myself to death?..... Well you know what I do: I photowalk myself.
I explore every single street, alley, bridge, avenue, watch the people and their behaviors.................

So today I've been very very bad................... want to know why?
Well lets start with lunch time: as I was photowalking meself I stubbled upon this cute little park: Greenacre Park on E51st between 2nd and 3rd Avenue. Right at the entrance there is this huge sign that says:DO NOT TAKE PICTURES.
Helllooooooo! Do you know what that means to me: it means: PLEASE TAKE LOOOOOOTS OF PICTURES.
By looking at the "park police" I know they were not born yesterday and that they were not playing. So I made sure my I-phone was ready to go and I put my A game on. The park is super cute, lot's of lunch office people, I recommand.
After taking plenty Of pictures with my spy expertise I decided to go towards the amazing waterfall. That's when I decided that I wanted a great shot of it and pulled my phone in full site...... It took about 2 seconds before the park police approached me and stoped me. Of course I answer with my biggest smile and innocent accent, "Oh! I'm zo zorrry!" and left. I have the feeling they were watching me, did they know? It might have been my outfit!!! That's it! it is the outfit!!!!

And then there is when the after money maker is out of my way: I have roughly 2 hours before the gym, so i photowalk myself in different parts of the city.
Today's goal was to take more shots of the Chrysler Building to complete my series. I want a shot from up high......
So what do I do? I go in the little cute 15 story hotel, acted like I stayed there and ended on the roof top, no Chrysler Building but I got myself some great shots from the cityscape around .
I kept on going aroung the CB to shoot it at different dimentions, angles and light. I was very happy with what I saw.... I still havent gone thru the 150 shots I got today. But I know i got good ones i can't wait to share with you.

On that: best to you friends,

MY FIRST POST

Hello People and welcome to my blog.
As the tittle mentions, this is my first post, my first blog. YEAAAAAAH!

So where do I begin?
The start of my mobile photography experience?
Sounds pretty much what I was going to do, what I should do. But guess what? I just changed my mind. I'll have time to go down memory lane later....

How about something more now? Something more current?
Yep! that's it!

So let me talk about this new series I just started today. What's the title again? (hold on ,let me get my phone.....you must know I have slight difficulty remembering names and my age, I'm 26 this year, just like last year, just like next year!)
BACK!!! So it is "THE BUILDING KING KONG MISSED!" It's all about The Chrysler Building. Or I should say the gorgeous Chrysler Building. An art deco gem.

Do you know how many times I tried to go up there knowing it's not open to public? I tried the lost tourist with the strong french accent, I tried the super cool dude (Well I guess that's me!!!!!), try to joke with the guards, the list goes on and on... Now forget it! they know me! The only thing left for me is to steal a few shots in the lobby and stairs. I know you are not supposed to!

So let me take this hot minute to let you know that I gladly accept any invitations if you were to have some connections to get into that building or any one in Manhattan for that effect.. Clear? Great! Let's move on.............

About this series: I have chosen a very specific mood that an homemade filter helps me create. (Really it's mix between different ones) .
I have done so many series, with a very specific topic or subject. Now I'm pushing my boundaries to create a collection that is super consistent.
My series have become a fashion show, from the first shot that gives the moods and the trend to the last one that closes the show. You are saying dramatic? You got that right!!!

At the end of the day for me is that: am I pleased? Am I happy with what I'm showing? Self satisfaction is essential my friends...

Don't we all like the "likes" and "comments"? Of course we do. I do. But what I like most is when I see the final shot all pretty in it's new format, with it's new lighting and new colors....... And each time after that is: the next one got to be better....... That's how I grow as a mobile photographer.
My hope is that now I'm not as good as tomorrow..........

My friends, It's been a pleasure

A bientot,

Peace Love and Photography
